Council Gets Their Verbiage On
After a prolonged 2 p.m. meeting, the City Council got down to business in the 4 p.m. voting session later than usual. It started with a report on the coming year's budget from City Manager Janice Casteel.

police beat
BCSO deputies responded to a call on McClure Road Wednesday morning, and upon their arrival were told that two men had been seen loading up scrap metal from an unoccupied residence. The suspects were gone but left behind a pile of scrap aluminum and metal indicating they might return.

First Time For Everything: CoCo Eats And Runs
Monday at noon, the Bradley County Commission convened upon the Bear Bistro at Bradley Central High School. As Commissioners munched on beautiful salads prepared by student chefs, two of the school's choirs joined together for a compelling version of "You Raise Me Up," the hit song by Josh Groban. Following the song, current BCHS Principal and Superintendent Elect Johnny McDaniel took the lead.

Should the county schools have kept lunch prices where they were?

Let me begin my educational piece with a disclaimer. Asking people to give more money is never a popular thing. I know that, you know that, everybody knows that. That's why so many articles written on the topic of increased taxes start that way. It doesn't matter if you're getting a better product. If you're paying more, you won't be happy. After all, if you can pick it up for 30 cents cheaper down the street, why not do just that?

Special Olympics: A Fun Time For All

The Special Olympics are held every year with great fanfare and excitement - and for good reason. This year was no exception, as the event went over great. Maybe this teacher helped you with those tricky algebra problems, listened to you when you needed an ear or perhaps made your feel appreciated and important. Now, if I ask you if you told this teacher what he or she meant to you would you what would you answer?

Words to Live by: Problems and Priorties

One of the most valuable lessons that I have learned in my Christian walk is maintaining proper order in all my affairs. I once saw an acronym for the name of God - "Good Orderly Direction," and have often referred to this when seeking His guidance. Psalm 18:30 says, "As for God, His way is perfect." Therefore, whenever I begin to get a sense of unrest and my peace becomes disturbed, I can generally pinpoint an area of my life that has gotten out of proper order

mystery diner: The Good Stuff's In Here

I headed up the mountain last week in search of a good sandwich. To my surprise and delight, the Ocoee Dam Deli and Grill popped into my vision out of nowhere. Their sign inside says it all - "The Good Stuff's In Here." This little slice of heaven lies low on the radar but high on the list of places everyone should try. I've heard breakfast is better than lunch, which means it must be pretty darn good.
